Enabling greater interface through the site and better connecting GIQ between Gracefield and Waiwhetū communities.
Extending and enhancing the on-site pedestrian connection network linking existing and new activities. Key into existing and improved pathways, corridors, courtyards’ and nodes bridging the gaps between.
Rationalise the servicing, vehicle movements and parking zones to disentangle from pedestrian priority zones where possible.
The proposals shift the dominance from service and parking to pedestrian, GIQ activity and amenity, and high quality landscape.
Movement along the new Waiwhetū landscape into and through the site, and along the north-south central avenue are pedestrian prioritised. Where practicable, building edges to these route will priorities visually interactive activities, incorporate connections and extend shelter. Vegetation and landscape features provide shelter and seating.
