Helping to drive success
Along with stakeholder feedback back the Design Team have considered the conditions of international innovation precincts when developing the Masterplan design. Evidence from other locations points to some common conditions for success. As far as we can, at this stage, the Design Team has sought to include or enable opportunities to create these conditions at GIQ.
OPPORTUNITIES
Enhance multi modal accessibility/connectivity between GIQ site and existing community networks
Enhance accessibility to amenity + connections throughout GIQ site
Define 'safe zones' that enable free movement across parts of the site
Enhance a range of amenity supporting community ie. food, recreation, access, visibility to the unique landscape environment
Enhance opportunities for showcasing activities, outcomes, products and amenity of place to support/promote GIQ as a 'centre of excellence'
Provide a platform for formal + informal collaboration + innovation
Develop amenity + identity that celebrate local cultural initiatives
(Re) express the mauri of the Waiwhetu Stream as fundamental to site identity
Enhance legibility + identity with developed gateways + street interfaces
Enhance interfaces, access + hosting amenities
Create effective, agile, connected spaces that provide for a range of activities
